TREND WATCH: ALL TIED UP!!

'Tis the season for boots and bling.. laces and buckles.. and all those wonderful things... 

Any shoenista knows with each fall season, boots will surely make their debut in stores. So, it's never a question of WILL boots be in style but more so a question of WHAT boots will be in style? Is it the wedge boot? The knee high boot? The granny boot? Ohhh.. the questions that plague the fabulous ones! The next question to follow is usually: What's the prominent trend happening on boots? A few weeks ago, I mentioned that buckles are everywhere for this Fall season.. from boots to platforms back to booties. (Refer to my Nov. 9th - BUCKLE UP post)

Well, I can assure you there is no shortage of lace detail on your Fall footwear either! Every designer from discount designers to certifiable couture designers, have some type of lace-up, shoe string detail being offered. You will find boots with laces that line the wall, in any shoe store that you enter. So, the next time you're out shopping and you find the lace up boot in your peripheral.. you just may want to consider getting all tied up!

SKY HIGH.. HEELS, THAT IS!

The "sky-heel" is entering the ring at an amazing 9" inches!! The height is so extreme that numerous manufacturers refused to make it. However, things have changed.. The sky high heel is set to make it's debut in 2011 and I suppose we have Lady Gaga to thank for this.

The sky heel will be available in a sparkly red or gold and will be available in stores for under $100. A spokesman for the firm said the design was inspired “by the catwalk, for the sidewalk”. He added: “The Sky Heel was fuelled by customer demand to mimic the celebrity look. We’ve seen the five-inch and six-inch, and we’ve even seen the seven-inch heel. The trend is bigger, bigger, bigger – and the Sky Heel is the biggest of them all.”

SHOE REVIEW:CHEAP MONDAY

With winter around the corner, boots have began to creep out of the closet. From booties to knee-high boots there are a variety of shoe styles and colors that can be chosen. Cheap Monday has now created their version of a boot, the clear plastic knee boot, which can also be bought in an ankle version. My thoughts when seeing this boot, "You've got to be kidding me." To my surprise these "kicks" are a hit amongst many. This is a futurist idea of the rainboot that I believe will be a fad. Who cares about wearing socks in the winter for warmth or protecting your feet from puddles on a rainy day! Its all in the name of fashion. Furthermore, forget skipping pedicures in the winter, those toes must always be in tip top shape!

A few days ago, Halle Berry was honored at the AFI Fest 2010 here in Los Angeles, over at Grauman’s Chinese Theater.  I, personally, love Ms. Berry and she happens to be one of the most humble and down-to-earth celebs that I’ve EVER met! Her style has always been timeless to me. That is to say, it’s classic with seasonless appeal! She is wearing an Elie Saab dress and Gucci’s ‘Malibu’ pump. She could easily wear this exact same outfit next year and make it on anyone’s best dressed list! I know fashionista's tend to think that more is better--and sometimes this is true.. but this look clearly illustrates that less is more! I know you have a LBD in your closet and black pumps aren't hard to find. Be inspired! TREND TUESDAY: BUCKLE UP!

It’s raining buckles for Fall!  Buckles are an interesting detail and aide greatly in making your feet eye candy! Whether the buckles are gold, antique brass, silver or gunmetal, you really can’t go wrong! And it’s not just for boots! I’m seeing them on wedges, sandals, booties and stilettos. Buckle detailing was ever-so-present and accounted for at fashion week and I am definitely seeing the trend in retail stores now that fall is upon us. Fall may be a bumpy ride so make sure you’re BUCKLED UP!

RUNWAY REPORT :: Rodarte Fall 2010

Anyone who really knows me KNOWS that Nicholas Kirkwood is hands down, one of my most FAVORITE shoe designers EVER! Dare I say, he is one of the best who ever did it? Hmmm.. why not? Let's go with it! He's one of the best!!! And his new collection for Rodarte Fall 2010 only serves to solidify his place in my shoe Hall of Fame. This is my favorite piece of the collection and I can dissect why this shoe is so awesome but in the interest of time, allow me to highlight only a few! The melted candlewax inspired heel... the play on texture mixing the animal skin with the suede tie.. the architecture of the shoe.. and last but certainly not least, the detailing and cut-out  placement in the shoe! The shoe is available in solid (as pictured above) and there are also color blocked versions, as well. SHOE REVIEW

Shoenista’s STEER CLEAR!! There is nothing fabulous about the new Jordan VIII. I can appreciate the design initiative but the execution failed miserably. When I first saw this shoe, many questions came to mind but chief among them: WHY?? And as a close second: Where exactly would you wear this shoe? It certainly is not conducive to any type of sport and you’re definitely not wearing this out for a night on the town... at least, I hope not! It just doesn’t work. If you are going for a casual look, there is a better way to do it. You can’t mix oil with water and the same is true for a sneaker and stiletto. But, if for some unknown reason, you absolutely love this shoe… it can still be yours for $99 at Kicks Bay.
